You’re invited to a community event sponsored by the Octoraro Watershed Association, the Town of Rising Sun, and the Cecil County Watershed Stewards Academy on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Veteran’s Park will be getting lots of attention in the coming months, with the creation of both stream and wetland restoration projects, which will include the planting of lots of different native wildflowers, shrubs, and trees. If you’re interested in learning about the value of native plants in our landscapes and how to help maintain them, then this event is for you! We'll be planting 50 trees in areas along a newly created section of trail. Students from our local schools have helped us with similar projects at Triangle Park, and are wholeheartedly being welcomed back! However, this restoration work will be an ongoing process and the organizations sponsoring this event wish to get everyone involved in the stewardship of our special community places. Please bring your work gloves and your favorite shovel, as we will have a limited number of tools for sharing. Thanks for your interest and we look forward to working with you soon!
