You’re invited to a community event sponsored by the Octoraro Watershed Association, Town of Rising Sun, and the Cecil County Watershed Stewards Academy on Wednesday, August 12th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Triangle Park has undergone somewhat of a renaissance lately, with the installation of a new dog park, as well as, a wetland restoration adjacent to Stone Run, which includes the planting of lots of different native wildflowers, shrubs, and trees. If you’re interested in learning about the value of native plants in our landscapes and how to help maintain them, then this event is for you! We'll be adding mulch to the plantings and doing some invasive plant removal. Students from our local schools have helped to plant some of these plants, and are wholeheartedly being welcomed back! However, this restoration work will be an ongoing process and the organizations sponsoring this event wish to get everyone involved in the stewardship of our special community places. Please bring your work gloves and any hand tools of your choice, as we will have a limited number of tools for sharing. We’re particularly looking for more hand-held hedge trimmers as shown below. Thanks for your interest and we look forward to working with you soon! Please follow this link to sign up:
