Position Summary

Reporting to Teri Johnson, Vice President, Volunteer Engagement, this role is critical to the success of the volunteer engagement programs at LLS and serves to support the chapters in the volunteer’s region by providing information and assistance with LLS volunteer engagement tools, resources and procedures. This role will also support the recruitment and training of volunteers for chapters in the region. The outcomes of this role serve our mission work and will require the volunteer to perform customer service type duties for field staff at a select group of chapters:

  • Answer questions staff in your region have about volunteer engagement at LLS;
  • Help staff find volunteer tools and resources already created;
  • Assist staff with recruitment of volunteers for their chapter. This may include posting positions on VolunteerMatch or with local colleges and universities as well as follow up with potential volunteers once they have expressed an interest;
  • Remote training and orienting of new volunteers.

Location

The position will be physically located in a chapter close to the volunteer’s home. Current opportunities exist in Owings Mills, MD or Pittsburgh, PA depending on volunteer’s residential location.

Time Commitment

This volunteer position starts immediately and is ongoing. The volunteer will commit to 10 hours a week. Flexible schedule based on mutually agreed upon times. Work must be completed during business hours 9am - 5pm.

Qualifications

Volunteer should possess the following skills/qualifications:

  • Experience with MSOffice and Outlook
  • Experience as a volunteer or volunteer manager
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Fluidity with basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Box (shared folders) and Outlook

 

Training

LLS will provide the volunteer with an orientation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well as training in LLS specific software needed to complete the project. Training will also be provided in:

  • VolunteerMatch
  • VerifiedVolunteers
  • LLS Volunteer Engagement Programs
  • BOX, Webex and other office based software
