Description

Join the High 5 Initiative on National Trails Day at Beaver Marsh Loop for "Blooms Before Noon", a Ranger led hike to enjoy the park's native flora, including the beautiful Mountain Laurel. A hike around this marsh area provides a great opportunity to see wildlife as well. The forest supports deer, eagles, and squirrels amongst other animals. Beavers also have an active lodge in the middle of the marsh, influencing the name of the trail. After we hit the trails, we will go along the river by the boat launch to play "Washed Ashore or Left Behind?"

We will provide cleanup supplies. We will also have light snacks and water, though we do encourage you to bring your own in a refillable container. The address provided is to the main office at Elk Neck State Park and Rogues Harbor will be past it on the left and marked with a sign. We will be meeting at the Upper Parking Lot on the left at 8:30am to sign in and the hike will start at 9am. Let the attendant know you are there for the cleanup for free admission.

Partial financial assistance has been provided through the Cecil County VLT Local Community Grant Program, sponsored by the Cecil County Executive. Jerry Skrivanek V.F.W. Post 8185 in Port Deposit, MD donated to help cover the cost of supplies. The High 5 Initiative also received a partial grant from MD's DHCD.
