Description

We will be celebrating one of Port Deposit and Susquehanna River's favorite residents, the Northern Map Turtle, with a cleanup for World Turtle Day. Local residents and organizations have played a major role in protecting this state-endangered species and we wish to help continue this effort by keeping the riparian area clear of litter and debris where these turtles nest and bathe in the sun. We will be working with Towson University to clean out the living habitat in Marina Park in addition to the areas along rte. 222 and Conowingo Park. The Bog Turtle is another endangered species that calls this area home and Bog Turtle Brewery will be thanking volunteers with a refillable growler. We will be meeting at Conowingo Park to sign in, pass out supplies and assign areas. If you would like to volunteer or contribute, please e-mail Briana@TheHigh5Initiative.com .
