Who We Are

Cecil Transit operates demand response transportation under Section 5311 and SSTAP with a Cecil County Maryland local match. Utilizing a fleet of 17 wheelchair accessible vehicles, riders are transported from the Towns of Elkton, Cecilton, Chesapeake City, North East, Rising Sun, Perryville, Port Deposit, Conowingo and other population pockets to the Elkton Center, shopping areas, medical facilities, social service facilities, employment, education and other general locations.

The transportation service is offered Monday through Saturday each week, which includes select holidays; hours of operation are from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Additional medical appointment transportation is offered through our SSCT volunteers and local human service agencies participating in our coordination efforts.

Utilizing the same fleet of buses we also operate Fixed Route Services which includes select holidays (schedules posted in vehicles). Service areas include Elkton, North East Charlestown, Perryville, VA Hospital, Cecil College, Glasgow DE, Newark, DE, Marc Train and Newark Train Station.

Glasgow Connection Route #1, a public service route available Monday through Saturday, 5:30 am-6:30 pm, from Elkton, MD to Glasgow, DE. Our other public bus route is Perryville Connection Route #2, available Monday through Saturday, 5:45 am-6:45 pm. The Perryville route connects with the Harford County Transit (JARC) route eight (8) times a day. Cecil Transit line connects with the MARC train in Perryville and the Harford line connects with the MARC train in Aberdeen, along with other multiple Harford Transit routes.

Mid County Route #3 is available Monday through Friday 6:00 am through 10:30 pm this fixed route travels through the town of Elkton, North East, Perryville, and Charlestown, MD. Elkton Newark Connection Route #4 is a fixed route transportation that services the town of Elkton, MD, Glasgow, DE and Newark, DE. Stops include Newark Park & Ride, Newark Train Station, Newark Transit Hub and the route 279 corridor. This route operates Monday through Friday 6:00 am. to 10:00 pm.

We also operate the Cecil County Taxi Voucher Program (since August 2010 this program helps reduce prices for Cecil County residents that are 60 years or older, persons with disabilities and individuals that meet low income guidelines) through the MTA, New Freedom Grant, with a local match from United Way of Cecil County.

The mission of Cecil Transit is to provide the public with a safe and efficient transportation system that increases access and mobility, reduces congestion, improves the environment and supports economic development, thereby enhancing the quality of life throughout Cecil County.
