Mediation is a process that brings people together to clarify issues, discuss options and, if possible, reach an agreement. It is an alternative to non-resolution or costly legal measures.
CCCMC works exclusively with a Volunteer Team to provide services to community members. Our volunteer mediators work directly with people in disputes; easing tensions, establishing trust, and helping participants find solutions. Volunteers may also choose to volunteer their time in a local mediation center, assisting with events and fundraisers, assisting with programs and outreach opportunities.
CCCMC's Volunteer Training Program represents a unique opportunity for volunteers to obtain hands on experience and skills in mediation. Volunteers receive free, professional training with a Volunteer Application & Commitment. Basic Mediation Training is provided by Community Mediation Maryland. The 50-hour intensive training program is followed by an observation and co-mediation internship. Once established, volunteers may choose specialized areas of training including: Attendance Mediation, Parenting Plan Mediation, Police Complaint Mediation, District Court ADR Program Mediation, Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Large Group Meeting Facilitation.
CCCMC follows the Maryland Standard of Conduct for Mediators and Mediation Confidentiality Code of MD Section 3-1803 and Judiciary Rule 17.
