Who We Are
The Cecil County Ladies Auxiliary (CCLA) is a non-profit volunteer organization of dedicated Cecil County auxiliary members who fundraise and serve the community for the benefit of the Cecil County local fire companies. Cecil County Ladies Auxiliaries raise thousands of dollars for their fire companies and often provide onsite food and beverages during a fire incident. Most of the money is raised with food concessions at events such as bingo, raffles, antique shows, craft shows, carnivals, sub sales, banquets, and funeral gatherings.
Membership in the five active auxiliaries is a great service to our community, provides you with a sense of belonging, and an opportunity to share your skills. After a number of years of service, members may qualify for the Maryland Income Tax Subtraction Modification Program. This program provides a savings to the auxiliary member when filing their annual income tax based on a point system for volunteer hours served.
What We Do
In return for a savings of $5,000 on our Maryland taxes we work a minimum of 100 hours in a year in three categories of volunteering: fund raising; collateral duties; and meetings. Our culture is one of teamwork and service with an emphasis in the kitchen of cleanliness, organization, and respect for others on the team.
Regular auxiliary members have numerous opportunities to advance and take responsibility in the kitchen with cooking, managing, and accounting. In addition, most auxiliaries have committees that include ways and means, executive, membership, training, bylaws, points coordinator, publicity, hall of fame, sunshine, kitchen, nominating, special events, and 10-17 refreshments. Leadership opportunities may include the offices of president; vice president; treasurer; assistant treasurer; chaplain; and historian. There are also countywide and statewide organizations offering a larger platform to share our skills.
