Who We Are
The Chesapeake City Museum opened its doors on May 1, 2021. Our small museum showcases the history of Chesapeake City and the surrounding area. Exhibits include detailed maps, artifacts from early settlers, fraternal order ledgers, the history of the C & D Canal and the construction of the bridge, as well as information on the restoration of historic homes and businesses and fascinating collections from longtime residents.
What We Do
We strive to educate our townsfolk and tourists about the history of Chesapeake City. We also keep an in-depth archive of information for researchers young and old, near and far, to understand their projects. So far, we've assisted with genealogical research, fraternal society history, and maritime history. We are currently assisting another historian with his research on the Spanish Flu pandemic.
