Cecil Cares is an annual countywide service event coordinated by the Cecil County Department of Community Services-Community Partnerships Division and the Cecil Cares Planning Team. Cecil Cares offers citizens the opportunity to connect and volunteer with local organizations (nonprofits, government agencies, and faith and service-based organizations) on a variety of one-day service projects throughout the County. The inaugural event was held in September 2016 as a part of a grant initiative through the Maryland Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. Since 2017, Cecil Cares has been generously supported by Upper Shore Regional Council. Cecil Cares 2025 – the 10th annual event! – was also supported by local business sponsors including Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union, Chesapeake Utilities, New York Life, Herr’s, Key Realty, and Wesley’s Restaurant. The event has grown over the years in participation and interest. Cecil Cares 2025 impact data included:
- 242 volunteers working on 15
different projects throughout Cecil County. Volunteers removed an
estimated 4,000 lbs. of trash. - 250 bags of groceries were donated totaling over 1,250 lbs.
- Volunteers painted and cleaned up residential homes for disabled adults, coordinated landscape projects, and created a memorial walkway way of food items around Cecil County.
