Who We Are

Habitat builds simple decent houses with the help of homeowners (partner families) and volunteers. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with no-interest loans. The homeowner’s monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes.

Habitat Susquehanna’s Repair Program is not an emergency repair program. It operates on grant funding received for critical repairs (i.e., may include roofs, HVAC, accessible ramps, grab bars, etc.) and weatherization (i.e., may include attic and crawl space insulation, air sealing, caulking and weather stripping, as well as possible HVAC repair/replacement). Applicants who meet the Cecil and Harford Counties’ residency and financial requirements and demonstrate the greatest need for a Habitat project will be selected, subject to the availability of funds. Applicants are required to contribute 15 percent of the total cost of the project, as well as to give back at least 10 hours of service to their community in the spirit of partnership with Habitat Susquehanna.

Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna not only serves the local community, but the nation and the world through regular tithing and Global Village trips. Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna has funded 53 homes in Kenya and El Salvador.
